Tamagotchi Electronic Robotic Pet Toys
The Tamagotchi originally launched in 1996 from Japan and quickly crossed the Pacific to become a huge hit with kids in the United States in 1997. The Tamagotchi is a small egg-shaped electronic pet that you can carry around in the palm of your hand. It's interactive features gave it a lifelike appeal that made it very fun for children who had to look after it like their pet. Kids had to remember to feed, play, and clean after their virtual pets. They would develop different personalities or characters depending on how well you cared for them. On the other hand, Tamagotchi that were negected would develop bad health, leading to an electronic death.
Today, the Tamagotchi is still popular. In 2006, version 3 was released and looks like a mobile phone. This version allowed kids use codes from the official Tamagotchi website, www.tamatown.com to enhance its interactive gameplay. Version 5 is the currently out and is backwards compatible with previous versions of the Tamagotchi.
